If you are having difficulty reading or know someone who is, The Echo, which is an audio Magazine of local news may be able to help blind and partially sighted people in the Mansfield and Ashfield areas. Their volunteers prepare and record a new edition of the Magazine every fortnight and mail it to visually impaired listeners on compact disc or USB flash drive. Please contact The Echo if you or someone you know is visually impaired and would like to be included on their mailing list. The service is free of charge, subject to certain conditions, and may also be available to others having disabilities which make reading difficult.

The End of Life Care Team, at Kings Mill Hospital are looking for knitted or crocheted blankets, or any spare wool, for patients who are nearing their last days of life. If you have any spare wool, no matter how little or how much, the Team would love to receive this to turn into blankets. Any donations of wool can be dropped off at the Community Involvement Department in the main entrance at Kings Mill Hospital, for the end of life Care Team.
