Mansfield and Sutton Astronomical Society will be holding an Open Evening. Your visit will include a demonstration of their Newtonian Telescope, a tour of their Radio Astronomy Centre and an opportunity to view the Moon through various telescopes. Refreshments and cakes will be available from their on-site Cafe. There will be two viewing slots - 4.35pm to 7.15pm and 7.45am to 10.25pm and each one is ticket only entry. The Forces Vets Afloat Charitable Trust is a non-profit Organisation that helps military veterans get off the streets and into floating homes in the U.K. They have a fleet of four narrowboats and rely heavily on donations and Grants to continue their work. They are looking for volunteers to help restore the boats, so if you can do a bit of carpentry, handle a sander, do some painting or plumbing or taking stuff to the tip, your help would be very much appreciated.
