Corey Rhodes and Noah Furnival, both volunteers at Kings Mill Hospital’s very own hospital radio station, Millside Radio, have successfully completed a marathon 24-hour broadcast to raise funds to help keep the station on air.
The station, a registered charity, provides a friend at the bedside service for patients in hospital, which can be listened to via the bedside units or through the internet at millsideradio.co.uk
The broadcast was very well received, with listeners phoning in requests and taking part in the featured competitions and quizzes.
Although Noah and Corey are still recovering, they are both ‘blown away’ with the response to the broadcast and wish to thank everyone for all their kindness, support and donations.
It is hoped that together with the funds raised from a Tombola held in the entrance to the hospital on the same day, the funds raised will top £800.
Donations can still be made via the station’s JustGiving page at https://justgiving.com/page/millsideradio24hour
A delighted station manager Peter Piper expressed his thanks to Corey and Noah and all the members of Millside who have supported them, explaining that the funds raised will help replace failing equipment and help keep the service on air as it moves into its 38th year in October.
